Wall murals are a fashionable and functional way to create a beautiful interior. They are becoming more and more popular from season to season, and their phenomenon is due to a revolutionary assembly technique that does not require the use of wallpaper glue. Of course, for various reasons, you still decide to stick with traditional wallpaper - with the use of glue and lubrication of the wall. How to properly hang a wallpaper to effectively stick it to the wall? Which wallpaper material should I choose for my interior?
Types of wall murals available on the market
There are many types of materials from which wallpapers are made. How to choose the best material for your interior? Let's start with the most famous one that has successfully revolutionized the wallpaper market - the self-adhesive material.
Self-adhesive wall murals
Self-adhesive wallpapers do not require the use of wallpaper glue, you can stick them on the wall like a sticker. Installation of a self-adhesive wall mural will not take you more than 60 minutes, although it will be more convenient if you find a person to help. We strongly recommend this material in rooms with difficult conditions, such as a kitchen or bathroom. The high temperatures and humidity prevailing there will not harm such a wallpaper, so it can be successfully used as a wall decoration in such places. What should you absolutely remember if you want to enjoy a wall mural for a long time? If you decide to use a removable wall mural, remember to prepare the wall in advance. What does it mean? Do not put wallpaper on a freshly painted wall, wait 3-4 weeks.
Otherwise, the wallpaper will not stick well and may peel off with some fresh paint. Want to make sure your wallpaper sticks well? Choose a wall with a smooth texture. Otherwise, you will have to use wallpaper glue. The removable wallpaper can be freely stuck and peeled off if necessary, although it may roll up when it is peeled off. If air bubbles appear on it during installation, just smooth them.
Non-woven wall murals
Vinyl wallpapers on interlining are also durable and resistant to mechanical damage, moisture and high temperatures, which is why they are also recommended for demanding rooms and wherever they may be exposed to intense dirt, e.g. in a children's room. It is the vinyl coating that makes the print fresh and does not fade, even after long-term use. They are easy to clean, just wipe with a cloth dampened with water, and in the case of heavy dirt with a little detergent. This type of wallpaper requires the use of non-woven wallpaper glue, which, importantly, is applied to the wall, not the wallpaper.
Latex wall murals
Latex wall murals are elegant, thanks to a satin, slightly shiny coating. Small-size arrangements can benefit from such wall decoration. Wall murals will brighten up the interior and add volume to it. Due to the fact that latex murals are elegant, they look the most beautiful in the living room and bedroom. To enjoy the decoration for longer, remember not to stick it in the kitchen or bathroom. This type of material absorbs moisture easily. The installation of such wallpaper requires the use of latex wallpaper glue. You can get wallpaper glue with different textures at any DIY store. The average cost of a wall mural depends on the type of material you choose. In wallpapers that require additional use of glue, you must add the cost of the wallpaper glue to the wallpaper itself.
Room Type
As you already know, there are wall murals that are not suitable for specific rooms, but there are also those that can be installed anywhere without restrictions. In which rooms is it worth installing traditional, self-adhesive, latex and non-woven wallpaper? Traditional wallpapers can be stuck in the living room, bedroom or children's room, as well as in the office. We do not recommend installation in the kitchen or bathroom, as it will easily roll up and come off under the influence of heat and moisture in these rooms. Self-adhesive and vinyl-coated non-woven wallpaper can be glued on without any restrictions, thanks to the protective layers. If you stick it in the bathroom, choose a place where it will not be in direct contact with running water. Latex wallpaper is delicate, so we do not recommend hanging it in the kitchen, bathroom and children's room due to its easy deformation and lack of resistance to moisture.
We hope you will get inspired and create your own unique interior design with modern photo wallpapers.
